Barbara has been a political campaigner on women's rights for over 20 years. She has a degree in Law and a first class diploma in journalism.
From 1997 to 2000 she was a non-executive director of Fawcett and latterly a trustee for several years.
Her political CV includes advising at government level on women and pensions; fighting a seat at the 1997 General Election; holding the post of Vice Chairman of Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Bow Group; Senior Advisor on government committees including domestic violence, pensions and social security.
After being refused a glass of water in the Men's bar in the Carlton Club, she was astonished that women could still be discriminated against in private clubs. In 1997 she began to campaign for equality to change this anomaly in the law.
She was the architect of the Sex Discrimination (No. 2) Bill, and the Sex Discrimination (Amendment) Bill, securing a debate in the House of Lords. The Bill is now law as part of the Equality Act 2010.
Since 2005 Barbara has focused on political filmmaking, and 'Carmen's Kiss' and 'Silent Voices' were broadcast on Sky television in 2012.
